What is Fractional HR?

Fractional HR is a service where a company hires an HR professional on a part-time or limited basis, rather than having a full-time, in-house HR staff. This model is particularly beneficial for small to medium-sized organizations that may not have the workload or resources to justify a full-time HR position, but still need expertise in the area

HR Consultant vs Fractional HR

HR Consultants

HR consultants typically provide external, specialized advice and guidance on a project-by-project basis. They are often hired to address specific challenges or to provide expertise on particular HR topics. Their engagement can be short-term or long-term, depending on the nature of the project. While they may offer valuable insights and recommendations, they are not typically deeply involved in the day-to-day HR operations of the organization.

Fractional HR

Fractional HR professionals are contracted by the company to provide ongoing HR support on a part time basis, according to needs. They are hired to fill gaps in the HR department or to provide additional expertise. Their engagement is generally longer-term, and they are directly involved in day-to-day HR activities and strategy. Fractional HR professionals offer a more hands-on approach than consultants, as they are integrated into the company's HR team.

Fractional HR professionals are typically more hands-on than HR consultants.

Integration: Fractional HR professionals are often integrated into a company's HR department, working closely with existing teams or providing their own HR team. This allows them to become deeply involved in day-to-day operations.

Ongoing Support: Unlike consultants who are often brought in for specific projects, fractional HR professionals provide ongoing support, ensuring consistency and continuity in HR practices.

Deep Understanding: Their direct involvement enables them to gain a deep understanding of the company's culture, goals, and challenges. This allows them to tailor their approach to the specific needs of the organization.

While HR consultants can provide valuable expertise and advice, fractional HR professionals offer a more embedded and hands-on approach, making them a great fit for organizations seeking practical HR support.
